Poker tournaments are not just for pros. Anyone can particpate in a tournament. There is a cost associated with joining one but the cost to join can be fairly reasonable.

I’ll be providing some info on where you can locate some tournaments soon.  Now I know online tournaments are popular and good play gound if you ask me. This is a great place to start testing your skills and not lose your shirt. And I don’t mean like if you’re playing strip poker :-).

Online Tournaments can be found but the real deal are live tournaments.  You can register for any but the prices to join some can be steep for some of these tournaments, upwards of $10,000.  However there are some that are far less then that, closer to a few $100 or less.
